Hollywood's favourite leading lady of 2011 could be about to portray the People's Princess in a new biopic. Thompson On Hollywood reports that Jessica Chastain is currently in talks to star in Caught In Flight as the late Princess Diana, who died in 1997 after a car crash in Parisian road tunnel.

Rather than a straight biopic, the film will apparently focus on Diana's two-year relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn, described by many of her closest friends as "the love of her life". Downfall's Oliver Hirschbiegel will direct the project, while pre-production is expected to start in March 2012. The film's controversial topic, not to mention the fact that Chastain is an American, is likely to cause controversy, so don't expect the project to receive any royal endorsement.
